Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 India launch LIVE Updates: The wait finally ends today for all those who have been eagerly looking forward to the two most awaited Enfields in India. After making us wait for months, the brand is finally going to launch the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 in India. The two were showcased for the first time at the 2017 EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy. The two motorcycles share a 648cc, twin cylinder engine that gets liquid-cooling and is good for producing a peak power output of 47 bhp along with a maximum torque of 52 Nm. The Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 will be the only bikes in the company’s line up at present to feature a twin cylinder engine.

Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 get disc brakes at both ends and a dual-channel ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) comes as standard for additional safety. The two bikes share most of the cycle parts including engine, chassis and suspension with each other but differ in body styling and riding geometry. While the Interceptor 650 is an old-school roadster, the Continental GT 650 is a cafe racer.

The Interceptor 650 offers a comfortable riding position and the handlebar is higher and more upright. the footpegs are mid-mounted, the seat is flat and comfortable. With all these elements, the new Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is a good city bike that also performs good on the winding roads. 

An image is doing rounds on the internet that reveals the prices of the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. According to the leak, the Interceptor 650 will be launched in India at a starting price of Rs 2.34 lakh,  the Continental GT 650 can be yours for Rs 2.49 lakh. Both prices being, ex-showroom. If the price list is to be believed, the bikes will surely attract a lot of buyers.

While the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 tips the scales at 202 kg, the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 has a total kerb weight of 198 kg. With that being said, the Interceptor 650 is 4 kg heavier than the Continental GT 650. 

The company says that the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 takes inspiration from the company’s cafe racer legacy from the 1960s. The bike has sporty riding ergonomics with an aim to offer fun to the rider on city and twisties. The bike gets some appealing colour options and a comprehensive feature list.

The all-new Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 will be available for sale in five colour options that go by the names Black Magic, Ventura Blue, Dr Mayhem Grey and Black, Ice Queen White and Mister Clean Chrome. The company will keep the pricing different for different colour options in order to maintain the exclusivity.

The new Interceptor 650 takes inspiration from the original Interceptor from the 1960s and is touted as a supremely capable and versatile roadster. The company says that the motorcycle has a fun to ride nature that not only makes it an easy highway tourer but also a good city bike. 

Royal Enfield showcased the 650 twins at the 2017 EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy last year. The company says that the company wanted to cater to the demands expected for the 650 twins. Moreover, the brand said that having the right retail readiness and aftermarket capabilities were absolutely critical.  Last, the brand believes that with the time invested, it will be offering the best quality to the customers.

The all-new Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 will be launched in a total of six colours namely Orange Crush, Ravishing Red, Silver Spectre, Glitter & Dust Chrome, Baker Express and Mark Three Black. Out of these, two are dual tone colours, one has a completely chromed out fuel tank while the three are standard shades.

The two Royal Enfield flagship bikes have been designed and developed in the UK at the company’s performance center with inputs taken from the Royal Enfield team in Chennai. The two motorcycles will be manufactured at the company’s production facility in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Bookings for the Royal Enfiled Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 have already begun at dealerships across India. The company says that the waiting period of the two bikes can only be said in the coming days while at present, it aims to deliver the bikes to the customers as soon as possible.

The Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 are the company’s flagship motorcycles that are expected to come with an aggressive pricing.  Royal Enfield seems to have put in its everything and these will most likely be a lot different than other Royal Enfield bikes.

Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 come to a halt with the help of a 320mm disc brake up front along with a 240mm disc brake at the rear. An ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) will be offered as standard with the bike for added safety and convenience.

The Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 share a 648cc, twin cylinder engine that is mated to a six-speed transmission system. The unit is good for shedding out respective power and torque outputs of 47 bhp and 52 Nm. The engine gets liquid-cooling and gets significantly lesser vibrations compared to other Royal Enfields in the market. Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 prices are expected to start from the Rs 2.7 lakh (ex-showroom) mark. At such a price point, the new Royal Enfield 650 twins will spell trouble for the competition. Jawa will be unveiling its 300cc bikes tomorrow and we believe it must be keeping a close watch on the Enfield launch.

With the launch of the new Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650, the company will be making its entry into the upper middleweight bike segment. Currently, limited to 500cc bikes, the two bikes will open opportunities for the brand in the 650cc segment. Having said that, the brand must be betting big on the new 650 twins.

This will put an end of months for the enthusiasts and with the sweet pricing, the company is expected to make the wait totally worth it.

Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650, the brand’s highly awaited motorcycles are expected to come with aggressive pricing in order to ring warning bells for the competition. If you ask us, the pricing of the two will be around the Rs 2.7 lakh (ex-showroom) mark. If not that, the company must be aiming to keep the on-road price of the two bikes under Rs 3 lakh.
