NEW DELHI: Most FMCG stocks were incurring losses in afternoon trade on Monday, keeping the sectoral index down.
The Nifty FMCG was trading 0.40 per cent down at 29,637 around 12:45 pm.
United Breweries (down 3.57 per cent), Tata Global Beverages (down 3.42 per cent) and GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (down 3.39 per cent) were the top losers in the FMCG index.
Shares of United Spirits (down 2.62 per cent), Godrej Industries (down 1.71 per cent) and Procter & Gamble Hygiene & Healthcare (down 1.64 per cent) also suffered losses.
Britannia Industries (down 1.43 per cent), Emami (down 1.42 per cent), ITC (down 0.59 per cent) and Jubilant Foodworks (down 0.26 per cent) were in the red.
However, Dabur India (up 1.79 per cent), Colgate-Palmolive (India) (up 1.69 per cent), Godrej Consumer Products (up 1.42 per cent) and Hindustan Unilever (up 0.67 per cent) were trading with gains.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 57 points at 10,873, while the BSE Sensex was 72 points down at 36,155.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 17 were trading in the green, while 33 were in the red.
Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, YES Bank, Hindalco Industries and Wipro were among the top gainers in the Nifty index.
Kotak Mahindra Bank, HPCL, Ultratech Cement, Axis Bank and Bajaj Finance were the top losers in the Nifty pack of stocks.
